The short version: Shae's Shrooms does not collect, store, or sell your personal data. Your profile, progress, logs, and bookmarks are saved locally on your own device. We do not have accounts, we do not have a server-side user database, and there is nothing to delete because we never had it in the first place.
Shae's Shrooms is a mycology education and field-reference application. It provides species identification information, foraging guidance, a glossary, quizzes, case studies, and an AI assistant ("Ailah") for mycology questions and photo-based mushroom scanning.
The following information is stored locally on your device using browser local storage, and is never transmitted to us or any third party as part of normal app use:
This data lives in your browser's local storage on your device. We do not have access to it. Uninstalling the app, clearing your browser data, or using a different device will remove this information.
When you send a message or photo to Ailah, that content is transmitted to our server, which forwards it to Anthropic's Claude API to generate a response. This is necessary for the assistant to function. We do not store a permanent log of your conversations tied to your identity. Messages are processed to generate a response and are not used to build an advertising profile.
If you use the Mushroom Scan feature, the photo you submit is sent to our server and processed by an AI vision model to generate an identification suggestion. Scan results may be temporarily cached on our server (keyed to the identified species, not to you personally) to improve performance for future identical scans. Your photo itself is not permanently retained or linked to your device.
Scan results and Ailah's responses are informational only and are never a substitute for full physical identification. See the Terms of Service for the full foraging safety disclaimer.
If you choose to purchase tokens or unlock features through the Google Play billing system, the transaction is processed by Google Play. We receive confirmation that a valid purchase occurred (via Google's standard purchase verification) so that we can credit your session, but we do not receive or store your payment card details — those are handled entirely by Google.
If you submit feedback through the in-app feedback form, the content of your message is sent to us by email so we can read and act on it. Only submit information in feedback messages that you are comfortable sharing with the development team.
Ailah has the ability to search the web to answer questions about current research, legal status, or recent developments. Search queries generated for this purpose are sent to a search provider as part of generating your response, consistent with standard web search functionality.
Shae's Shrooms is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. The app contains educational content about psychoactive and medicinal fungi intended for an adult audience exploring mycology, harm reduction, and foraging education.
Because the large majority of your data never leaves your device, your primary exposure is limited to whatever security protections exist on your own device and browser. Messages sent to Ailah and Scan photos are transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS).
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
Because your data is stored locally on your device rather than on our servers, you control it directly: clearing your browser's local storage for this site, or uninstalling the app, removes your profile, logs, and progress completely. There is no account for us to delete because no account exists.
